Where can I find out more about Webswing Licensing?
For general information about Webswing licensing, please visit the Licensing Section on our webpage, or please contact us.
We have a commercial product; do we need a Webswing license?
Yes, you need to have a valid Webswing license while using Webswing commercially (further selling of Webswing deployed with your product), or internally within a commercial organization. For more information, please contact us.
Do we need a Webswing license during the development of the Combined product (our app + Webswing)?
No, you do not need a commercial license while evaluating Webswing for your solution. However, we highly recommend using the Pre-production support of Webswing during the development and testing phase. For more information, please contact us.
Under what conditions can I get the Webswing license?
Webswing License is purchased together with the respective SLA (Service Level Agreement). SLA tiers are defined from the smaller ones suitable for single developers, to the highest used by global corporations. Another condition to consider is the number of concurrent users. According to the number of concurrent users (counted in Webswing Units), the price may differ for each SLA tier. For more information, please contact us.
We have several applications where we want to use Webswing. How many Webswing licenses do we need?
You need a separate Webswing license for each of your products. Such licensing does not have to be identical and can be held under different conditions and SLA tier in accordance with your particular needs. We understand that each use case may be different; therefore, please contact us.
We are technically unable to count the number of users using the Combined work - how many Webswing Units should we license?
Webswing license is purchased together with SLA tier. There is an option to activate an unlimited number of Webswing Units for each SLA. In such a case, there is no need to count the concurrent users and no risk that you use some of the Webswing Units within your business infrastructure illegally. Please contact us for more information.
We are a non-profit organization; we want to use the Webswing technology; do we need a commercial license?
Yes, you need a license even if you are a non-profit organization. However, the Webswing leadership team feels a strong giving-back responsibility to all non-profit and academic organizations. Please contact us, and we believe that we will be able to find a cost convenient win-win solution for both sides.
We have our product with Webswing (Combined product) deployed on our Customer's server. Who should be the licensee, we or our Customer?
Webswing does not get into contact with our Customer's customers. You, as an owner of the Combined product, will be the licensee. For more questions regarding on-premise deployments of the Combined product, please contact us.
We have an on-premise deployment of the Combined work; our customers are hospitals, we have ten customers; how many Webswing Units do we need?
In this case, you need for each of the respective Customer at least one Webswing Unit (1 Webswing Unit = 100 concurrent users). In case the individual Customer has more than 100 concurrent users, another Webswing unit for the Customer is needed.
We have a Software as a Service (SaaS) deployment of the Combined product; how should we count the number of Webswing units?
Webswing Unit equals 100 concurrent users. The number of concurrent users is the key while counting Webswing Units. Webswing Unit equals 100 concurrent users. The number of servers or JVM processes are irrelevant for Webswing licensing.
We have more servers. Do we need a Webswing license for each server?
No, you do not need a separate Webswing license for each of your servers. The separate license is needed for each of your software. Webswing licensing considers the number of your softwares, concurrent users, deployment method and SLA tier. For more information, please contact us.
When can we use Webswing under the AGPL license?
Since the newest version of Webswing 21.1 released in April 2021, using Webswing under the conditions of AGPL is not allowed and source code is not publicly available. Using Webswing under the Affero General Public License (AGPL) is possible up to the Webswing version 20.2 only. In case of any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We want to use Webswing without any license; is it possible?
Since the Webswing version 21.1, using Webswing without a valid Webswing license is illegal. For older Webswing versions (up to version 20.2), there is a possibility if you comply with Affero General Public License (AGPL) and use core Webswing without any additional and paid features. For more information about Webswing Licensing, please contact us.
